It considers itself the locals' most friendly gym, and Midsomer Norton Nub News was certain given a warm welcome when we checked up the re-opening of this High Street favourite.

So with England's lockdown over (for now at least) one group has already found themselves fully booked with happy and health-conscious customers. Good for not just physical health, but giving people a real boost in mental health, the owner and former owner are great ambassadors for looking and feeling good.

High Energy gym in Midsomer Norton welcomed back its first customers, first thing today (Tuesday December 2) and the owner could not be happier.

From the faces of the early door clients, they were thrilled too.

Situated behind 122 High Street in Midsomer Norton, the gym caters for all types of fitness fans, but seems especially welcome to an older clientele with special discounts for older clients.

Owner Kim Parsons and the former owner Clive, who was supposed to have retired but now works for the new 'boss', were clearly really pleased to be back.

Clive bought the gym, which has been going for 30 years, in 1994, Kim worked for him for several years before taking it on in 2017.

They are working on an appointments system only with no more than nine people at any one time.

The gym is open 9 am until 9 pm Monday to Friday and 10-1pm at the weekends.

Clive said; "We are only allowing nine to keep everyone absolutely safe, we have a lot of equipment all cleaned down between each use and this is one of the few places you don't have to wear a mask."

"It has been very hard not to be open. Around this area we have very few cases in the order of things and we have been really lucky.

" You will be quite safe in here. All of our customers clean after each exercise and as you can see everyone (apart from us for the photo and we are in the same bubble) keeps their distance."
