It will be a Greek restaurant called Athena - with an authentic head chef who is Greek, currently working at the Riverbank Cafe in Radstock at the helm.

But for now the former hairdressing shop at the centre of Radstock is undergoing some radical building work on a huge scale.

The Riverbank team hope that the restaurant will be open in August - hoping that the coronavirus rules will allow it by then - perhaps initially only as a takeaway.

They told Nub News: " We will try and have it open by August even as a takeaway option depending on all the work being completed so just keeping our fingers crossed at the moment."

It is certainly a major undertaking at the site on County Bridge in Radstock.

As you can see from these photos taken today (June 12) the whole floor of the surprisingly spacious building, had to be removed. They are now building up a structure to support a totally new floor which is expected to be put in from next week.

The site was vacated by the hairdresser, Jean Meredith, who retired in January after working in Radstock for over fifty years.
