In his regular column for Radstock Nub News some sad local news from the Mayor

The Radstock Mayor Rupert Bevan writes:

Late last week news was received of the passing of Ralph Davies.

Radstock has every reason to be proud of this gentleman. For most of his ninety-four years he was a missionary and until April of this year was to be seen trudging the streets, not only of Radstock but of Westfield and Midsomer Norton as well, in his hand a brief case replete with bible and the publications of his religion.

Whether or not you were a follower, you couldn't help but admire his tenacity. How I wish I had his firmness of purpose. Personal belief is one thing but the courage needed to proselytise is much rarer especially in these days when such activity is rejected as being weird, even antisocial. One of Radstock's great characters goes to his eternal reward.

To return to this week, it is my fervent hope that everyone is coping with this latest period of lockdown. If you find time on your hands, the Town Council is looking for contributions to the January edition of our town magazine, the Wheel. If you would care to make some suggestions, please send them along to the Hub. You can find contact details at www.radstock-tc.gov.uk. This website will provide you with a comprehensive list of information and activities sponsored by the Council so do feel free to make maximal use of it. Keep safe and well in the late autumn sunshine.
