Jacob Rees Mogg MP writes :

Donna Ford, Clerk of Midsomer Norton Town Council, has recently written to tell me that Midsomer Norton Town Council has been given an award as part of the Local Council Award Scheme.

The accolade received by the Town Council recognised its achievements in meeting the high standards set by the parish council sector and was evaluated by their peers. Ms Ford told me that "it is rewarding to be recognised for all the hard work that we do for our community. Having already achieved the Foundation Award and the Quality Award, Midsomer Norton Town Council is the first in the Local Council Association to achieve the Quality Gold Award."

The Local Council Award Scheme, delivered by the National Association of Local Councils with the County Association of Local Councils, not only strives to reward parish councils but it also seeks to give councils the tools to improve. In light of its achievement, Ms Ford explained that Midsomer Norton Town Council is now exploring ways in which it can continue to develop in order to maintain its award level position.

I am delighted to use this opportunity both to congratulate the Town Council on winning this prize as well as raising its profile in the local area. I know that the Town Council members are keen for residents to get in touch with ideas about how the general community or specific issues can be promoted for everyone's benefit, perhaps via meetings or events when the lockdown restrictions are lifted fully.
