The local railway heritage trust in Midsomer Norton is appealing for help in planning the next stages of its work to make the trains a better experience for all visitors - especially the less mobile.

The Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust is asking for readers to commit just a few minutes to fill out a survey which will allow them to better plan their work on a new carriage. That could involve putting in lifts to allow those in wheelchairs or with limited mobility get into the trains with more ease.

The online survey can be found by clicking HERE: the survey site

Chairman Stephen R J Lacey told NUb News: " We are looking to ascertain peoples thoughts about providing improved facilities on our trains for people with reduced mobility.

"The Trust has purchased an ex-British Railway Mk1 Coach, that we are looking to convert to a 'multi-access user' coach complete with lifts that will allow people with reduced mobility to experience the same level of comfort as able bodied passengers when taking a trip up and down the line."
