Bath-based housing association Curo has named Young Lives vs Cancer as its Charity of the Year for 2024.
The charity, established in 2005, provides essential support services for children, young people and families affected by cancer throughout the UK.
"Every year, our annual fundraising initiative shows the compassion and generosity of Curo colleagues," said Victor da Cunha, Curo's Chief Executive. "Young Lives vs Cancer is an incredible charity which supports families through the challenges that cancer brings. We're proud to support them."
Young Lives vs Cancer offers specialised support from diagnosis onwards, including the provision of dedicated social workers to address the needs of individuals and families. Through advocacy and tailored assistance, the charity ensures that those affected by cancer receive the care and support they require.
Fiona McCann, Regional Partnership Manager at Young Lives vs Cancer, said: "We are so excited to have Curo on board fundraising for us. We want to make sure our partnership is successful, fun and meaningful."
Colleagues have already been busy dreaming up inventive ways to raise money. Ideas so far include a sponsored 'sleep out', a 10,000 steps a day challenge and a charity gig with bands featuring Curo colleagues.
Every year, Curo colleagues are asked to pick one charity to fundraise for. The process starts with colleagues suggesting charities to support, these are shortlisted and they are then asked to cast their votes.
Last year, Curo colleagues raised a grand total of £11,000 for St Peter's Hospice as their Charity of the Year 2023.
