A sign of the times?
A sign of the times?

Well it certainly stopped us in our tracks.

Outside a favourite Midsomer Norton antiques shop an orange demon of a moped - or should we say l'orange?

For those not in the know - and Nub News thought this moped was a Raleigh Runabout - this is a March 1970 Mobylette.

Those wheels have already been snapped up - much to the delight of the owner of Dustland - for a very chic £1,100.

Owner Sean is a collector and restorer of the iconic French brand which is still hugely popular.

The Mobylette, sometimes shortened as Moby, is a model by French manufacturer Motobécane, launched in 1949 and was being manufactured until 1997, with peak production in the 1970s, averaging around 750,000 annually.

Even with those numbers it is quite a find - especially in Midsomer Norton.

Fittingly while we have a Franophile theme going , the shop DOES still have for sale a much more modestly priced, double sided sign advertising (in true art deco style) a French bakery.

The business is certainly eclectic and while you can find some of the things that he offers click HERE : his Facebook site you will find that within the odd shop, there are other treasures to be found.
