Architects have put in a revised plan six new homes on a site in Westfield.

The plans are for six new houses, with garages and associated parking spaces on the site of a house and an adjacent plot of land that sits on the corner of Fosseway and First Avenue. The land is around Aviemore house, and last year there was a planning application refused for the site, which is designated brownfield.

The site originally was going to be seven homes, and that was refused in August 2022 and following that Mr R Thorner, Flower & Hayes Ltd, put in an appeal against the decision of Bath and North East Somerset Council, but that too was refused.

One of the reasons given that the proposed homes would be too close to the road. Specifically : " To accommodate the level of proposed development, plots 1 to 4 are located extremely tight to the site's boundary with Fosseway. Whilst small strips of garden would be provided to the front of these plots, these gardens would be diminutive in scale and would not reflect the depth of those serving neighbouring properties, including the terrace properties opposite. As such, the proposed dwellings would sit uncomfortably close to the highway and result in a rather harsh and dominant form of development in the street scene. This would contrast markedly with the surrounding built form resulting in the proposed development appearing as an incongruous feature that would appreciably harm the character and appearance of the area. "

Now an application is in for one less home, details under 23/04286/FUL
