The local guitar and stringed instrument shop, The Loft on the bridge in Radstock is closing.

The owners say that overheads are now too great to continue with the business which has been at the address for over ten years.

The owner Simon Mathews said they would be selling off stock before re-orientating the business more towards repairs and upgrades.

He said: " We have decided that in order for the business to remain viable in an increasingly challenging and competitive environment we are going to cease our retail presence and focus on instrument repairs, upgrades and setups.

"Overheads in the retail sector have escalated astronomically while sales have declined so after more than a decade at 3 County Bridge we will be leaving and moving to a dedicated workshop.

"From there we will continue carrying out guitar repairs and setups at the most competitive prices with restrings still available while-you-wait from only £15."

The shop will remain open for the time being and they will be selling off stock at discounted prices so say " Please come in and make an offer."

Our opening hours are..

  1. 30-2.30 Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Other times available by appointment, email for details : [email protected]

On a happier note Simon is running Stratton United under 7s football team and they've been fundraising for a new set of goal posts. They reached their original target this week but have extended the appeal to include specially designed weights for them that add extra stability and safety.
