Recently, I received a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) outlining the changes that are being made to the way in which jobseekers look for work.
The DWP is helping its clients move into employment through its new Way to Work Campaign. The Prime Minister recently launched the new strategy to assist 500,000 jobseekers into work by the end of June 2022. The Department intends to fill record numbers of vacancies, supporting job-ready people into the labour market and enabling them to advance into a career.
Work Coaches will now offer increased dedicated face-to-face time for jobseekers and this tailored support will significantly improve their chances of finding work. Moreover, Jobcentre Plus is engaging directly with employers to provide support through a wide range of recruitment services. These include: the opportunity to find employment through a variety of platforms, including recruitment days and other events; dedicated Employer Advisers to support employers with all their recruitment needs; working closely with employers to simplify and shorten the recruitment process, making it easier for jobseekers to apply for and find work; advice about work experience and apprenticeships; working in partnership to deliver other programmes including Sector-based Work Academy Programme and advice and guidance on employing someone with a disability or health condition.
Coaches have worked hard throughout the past two years delivering Government policy to support jobseekers through the pandemic. As COVID restrictions are almost a distant memory and the economy continues to open up and grow they are ready to help more people into work with a modern, streamlined system.
