The planning application for McDonald's to move into Midsomer Norton is still alive with updates to plans today March 1.

There have been reports that a gym had taken over the application (and had previously put in an application for a change of use) but this seems to be just fishing for customers.

Nub News has tried repeatedly to get someone from the company to respond to questions about why they are still advertising the address of the old Argos store on the High Street, Number 32, as coming soon, but we have never had any replies.

Today (March 1) the planning site had an update on the application by McDonald's, with the revised plan of the site CLEARLY marked as being part of the fast food chain.

There have been unconfirmed reports that some councils at B&NES level have asked for the planning application, 23/03656/FUL to be brought in front of councillors at their planning discussions.

But no date has been set for any discussions.

Today also there were details put onto the planning site for a sound barrier between McDonald's should the company be successful in the application for change of use, and the neighbouring properties.

Over 18 metres of acoustic fence would be placed on the boundary behind and alongside McDonald's if the planning application is accepted
