The newly elected Mayor of Midsomer Norton has a clear goal in office.

Cllr Lynda Robertson doesn't hesitate for a moment, telling Nub News: " "I think the most important thing for me is to get the High Street going again. It's vital. "

Cllr Roberton faces an unusual first year in office ( and has indicated she will be happy to stand for two if necessary), with all the council meetings for the foreseeable future carried out via Zoom.

But she is thrilled to be in office, saying: " It's a great honour to be elected as Mayor of such a wonderful town as Midsomer Norton.

"I've lived here, with my husband, since 1993 and so feel very much part of the community. Having been on the Town Council since its inception, I know about the projects we have carried out and am looking forward to continuing the good work."

Many residents of the town will probably best know her from pre-coronavirus days.

The Cllr told Nub News that apart from her profile on the Town Council, " They probably would know me behind the bar at the Town Hall when the cinema is on!!"

The next meeting of Midsomer Norton Town Council is in the evening of June 8 with a virtual meeting of the planning committee.
