Midsomer Norton in the middle - featured half way in rankings of all the best places to live in the UK

Midsomer Norton has been ranked mid-tier in a report of the best and worst places to live in England and Wales this year.

Property finder company Garrington has published its 2024 marketing report for England and Wales.

The report ranks the 1,429 towns, cities and villages on measures covering five categories.

These categories are natural environment, wellbeing, heritage/culture, schools, employment and connectivity and house price quality and value.

Garrington also lists the average family home cost and average sales price change across the last 12 months in each place.

According to their rankings, these are the locations that ranked highest in this year :

  1. Twyford, Berkshire
  2. St Albans, Hertfordshire
  3. Epsom, Surrey
  4. New Mills, Derbyshire
  5. Bowdon, Greater Manchester
  6. Godalming, Surrey
  7. Tring, Hertfordshire
  8. Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
  9. Farncombe, Surrey
  10. Henley, Oxfordshire

Where does Midsomer Norton rank in the 2024 Garrington report?

Out of the 1,429 places, Midsomer Norton is almost exactly right in the middle, so sitting at 718 overall.

It is highly rated for the local environment, sitting at 227.

Midsomer Norton ranks for house price quality and value at 381.

Wellbeing is ranked at 636.

But it rates very badly for Schools, Employment and Connectivity sitting near the bottom of the table, placed at 1234

According to Garrington, the average family home cost in Midsomer Norton is now £498,335, with an average sales price up 1.48 per cent in the last year.

The analysis included a total of 1429 locations including 52 with a population of over 200000, 92 larger towns with a population between 75000 and 200000, 353 medium towns with a population between 20000 and 75000 and 921 small towns/large villages with a population between 5000 and 20000.
