The controversial plans to build 60 homes at Orchard Vale on the edge of Midsomer Norton are still being pushed ahead even as a review asked Mendip to reconsider them being in the local plan.

Under application 22/02932/FUL the plans are to demolish 26 and 28 Orchard Vale and development of 60 new homes with open space, landscaping and all associated infrastructure (Cross Boundary Application with Mendip).

One of the last comments on the planning application summed up many of those who have objected writing : " Our roads cannot take any more traffic . 60 properties = 200 or more cars, work vehicles. There are not the facilities for these people. Doctors, dentist. Extra pressure on hospitals."

Cllr Shaun Hughes said on his social page : "Despite a huge amount of objections, numerous issues with the application and a judicial review instructing Mendip Council to remove this site from their local plan Curo still want to try and push this planning application through!

We will continue to fight this planning application and I will arrange another residents meeting shortly to discuss our next steps. "
