Midsomer Norton Town Hall transformation is reportedly running behind schedule, although there is still money left in the contingency fund to accommodate additional work.

At the last Midsomer Norton council meeting, there was a verbal update on the progress of the project from the Locum Clerk.

According to reports from the project manager, the time line is lagging because of the amount of work, some unexpected, which is involved.

That included what was described on the agenda of the meeting " previously reported structural issues" That also states: Underpinning has now been addressed; The build was still behind schedule; There is an element of the contingency fund remaining."

The Locum Clerk, told councillors to expect that the insurance on the building would be increasing, because of the work involved in insuring a building with such a large heritage status, which was also being renovated. Midsomer Norton Nub News has contacted one of the insurance companies mentioned at the meeting, Ecclesiastical which, the meeting was told, would not cover the building. They typically insure churches and other ancient buildings.

The scope of the work going on at Midsomer Norton Town Hall can be see by the latest photos taken March 10.
