Midsomer Norton's pet shop is still open for business, as a designated key supplier during the coronavirus crisis, but has changed the way it works.

Columbard Pet Supplies, which prides itself on everything for every pet - at absolute bargain prices - is serving customers from a new counter which cuts off most of the shop.

Owner Nigel Derrick, who has been in charge there for five and a half years, is doing all he can to keep customers, and crucially their pets, well during the coronavirus outbreak.

He said: " Our message is shop with your eyes not your hands. But please ask if we have something we will do our very best to get it to you."

That includes possibly delivering if people are self isolating, although as a small business that might not always be possible.

" But give us a call" said Nigel. " We will do our best to help, that is why we are still here."

Meantime the team at Columbard Pet & Garden Supplies are doing their best to stick to normal opening hours, but ask customers to contact them by phone on 01761 412957 or email [email protected] for updates.

The full list of business which have to close - and those which are deemed essential can be found here:
