As you can see : This carriage up at the Midsomer Norton station really needs some TLC

By Susie Watkins 9th Jul 2020

The buffet car now arriving at Midsomer Norton station will be right on time - opening from July 20.

News from the team of volunteers up at the Somerset & Dorset Heritage Railway is that trains will be coming soon.

They have just posted an update saying that some parts of the railway will be open - but warn visitors that if they do intend to visit the railway they follow all the guidance available and strictly adhere to the social distancing rules.

Sadly the station shop and museum will remain closed for the time being.

Meantime they have launched an appeal to refurbish what will eventually become their new buffet coach. As you see from these photos on Midsomer Norton Nub news it is certainly in need of some love.

The Head of Operations up at the station Mike Abbott said: " We are trying to raise the money asap to enable us to restore it. If you could spread the word that would be amazing."

They have already raised an incredible 65% of the funds needed to turn this carriage into a swish new buffet car.

You can donate an amount - however small by clicking here: Just Giving site

Their dream - up to 48 passengers relaxing and enjoying a luxury table service to recreate some of that golden age grandeur of rail travel in the past.
