New homes planned on overgrown land in Keynsham
Disused land in Keynsham could be redeveloped to provide seven "much needed" new homes.
Developer Asquare Properties said the brownfield site off Bath Hill has been left unattended and overgrown for years.
If approved the three houses and four flats will be sandwiched between a terrace of listed cottages and an "eyesore" car park.
The plans say: "The site benefits from easy access to Keynsham town centre hosting shops, public amenity, employment opportunities and public transport link.
"The site further benefits from the access to leisure and recreation facilities along the river corridor. The site is ideally located to minimise the need for vehicular based movements and promote sustainable means of transport.
"The development of the site will also benefit the local facilities by housing additional residents that will be using the facilities within walking distance.
"Development in this highly sustainable location needs to be optimised for density in order to harness the benefits on offer for sustainable living."
The site is below the threshold for affordable housing.
Bath and North East Somerset Council will consider the application, reference 21/05120/FUL.
