Two new on-call recruits for Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) celebrated their graduation on Friday 8 September following completion of the training course at Severn Park.

Two new on-call recruits for Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) celebrated their graduation this month following completion of the training course at Severn Park.

Alongside fellow AF&RS graduates, and recruits from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service, Liam Paterson and Duncan Glendinning graduated in an official ceremony following the completion of a rigorous training course. The course provides new on-call firefighters with specialist knowledge and a wide range of practical skills including tactical firefighting, pitching ladders, breathing apparatus, road traffic collision safety, and water safety and rescue.

Area Manager Vaughan Jenkins said: "I was delighted to attend the graduation of five new on-call firefighters, and see them start their journey with AF&RS."

Liam and Duncan were presented with their completion certificates in the ceremony and will now go on to serve their community in Radstock as part of the on-call response crew.

Vaughan added: "I'd like to say a huge congratulations to all that graduated today, and wish them all the very best for their service with us."

Avon Fire & Rescue Service works across an area of 134,753 hectares and for a population of over one million.
