Young Ambassadors are being recruited to help shape Children's Care Services across Bath and North East Somerset. The Ambassadors will ensure that the voices of children and young people are heard and that their views are at the heart of decision making.

Across the district there are currently 181 children and young people in care. Bath & North East Somerset Council is also responsible for 170 care leavers, aged between 18 and 24.

The council wants to initially recruit two Young Ambassadors, aged between 18 and 25, who have experienced and received support from Children and Young People's Services.

Councillor Kevin Guy, cabinet member for Children's Services, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to work within social care and help improve the quality of care services for young people. The Young Ambassadors will be uniquely placed to inspire and encourage the young people who benefit from our care services, to share their experiences and views and get involved in helping to shape services.

"I'm delighted we are able to offer these new roles which get to the very heart of our work with children and young people by providing employment, training and experience."

Young Ambassadors may have been in care, had a Child Protection plan, Child in Need plan, received support from the Early Help teams, Disabled Children & Young People's Service, Family Group Conference, or the Youth Support Team. They will work on a range of projects supported by The Off the Record team and will be able to fit the job around college, school or existing work commitments.

The Young Ambassadors will be based at the Civic Centre in Keynsham and at the Off the Record office in Bath but may also work in different venues and locations across B&NES. They will be paid for the hours they work as well as reasonable travel time and expenses.

For those interested in finding out more about the roles two information sessions are being held via ZOOM on Tuesday 4 August at 11am and Thursday 6 August at 5.30pm.

To attend the ZOOM sessions or for further information, potential applicants should talk to their personal advisor, social worker or family support worker or contact: Clare Luxton, ACE Team Manager on 07342 055690 or Rachael Ward, Head of Service on 07976 184698
