The teams at Specsavers in Bath and Midsomer Norton are preparing for a month of fundraising in October for Zambian charity, ZAHDIP (Zambian Hearing Disability Improvement Project).

The Specsavers sister stores, on Westgate Street, in Bath and High Street in Midsomer Norton, will be hosting a weekly program of events throughout the month to support those with hearing loss in Zambia.

Fundraising activity will include a bake sale, alongside a traditional Zambian antiques stall with both sweet treats and crafts available to buy in return for donations to the charity. The team will also be joined by a member of the ZAHDIP team every Tuesday in October, who'll be on hand to chat to visitors about the charity.

Local councillor, Michael Auton and Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Gordon Mackay will also be visiting the Midsomer Norton store on Saturday 7 October at 12:30pm to find out more about ZAHDIP, and the way the store supports the charity.

'We're really excited to welcome Councillor Michael Auton into the stores and to showcase some of the fundraising we've been doing for ZAHDIP,' says Specsavers Bath and Midsomer Norton hearcare director, Kingstone Katebe. 'This charity is really close to my heart, and I'm looking forward to raising awareness of it within our local community. ZAHDIP conducts free hearing tests and provides high-quality hearing aids, all with the goal of restoring the joy of sound for those with hearing loss.

'The work the charity does can enable children to hear their parent's voices again and can allow adults to gain important employment opportunities.'

The money raised in store during the month will allow the charity to make a real difference to the lives of people living with hearing loss in Zambia. Donations will directly fund hearing tests, purchase hearing aids and provide ongoing support to those affected.
