News that the former Argos building in Midsomer Norton is being developed into a restaurant made headlines as everyone debated what or who would be coming into town.

And now in the latest papers to planners it has been revealed - the company applying to come into town - is McDonald's.

The plans (Under 23/03656/FUL) are on the B&NES planning site with more details about what exactly they plan to do on the site on the right hand side of the High Street, number 32.

It is also reported there will be 120 jobs in the offing.

The official application is for Change of use from Class E to restaurant and takeaway (Sui Generis), with associated works to the car park and elevations.

Within the application too a report on how McDonald's intends to deliver to the site, manage deliveries during open hours and " ensure efficient and safe operation of the car park during servicing periods. " It remains to be seen if this will be enough to stop any opposition to the plans.

McDonald's has been trading in the UK since 1974. The company operates over 1,348 restaurants
