The annual ceremony to mark the 23 lives lost in September 1944, which saw a glider crash into the Paulton Hills on the way to Arnhem, was held this weekend.
The men who died were the first casualties of the so-called Bridge Too Far operation from Market Garden, the plan to land an Allied Airborne army behind German lines and end the war in 1944. They had taken off earlier from RAF Keevil airfield in Trowbridge.
Alongside relatives and army personnel, the local MP Jacob Rees Mogg and the West of England Mayor were at the ceremony.
