The application to build six new homes and garages and parking spaces on this land alongside the A367 and next door to the Whitehaven Care Home in Westfield is expected to be decided next week.

The plans ( under reference 23/04286/FUL) also include alterations to the existing home on the plot, Aviemore.

The application, formerly registered in November last year, has been criticised by Westfield Council.

They have posted a strong objection to the application writing : " Westfield Parish Council objects strongly to this gross over-development of the site, particularly with the entrance/exit being straight on to the A367, with the adjacent pedestrian crossing. Not only would it add to the very heavy traffic, but also to the congestion of people turning into the very busy car park opposite. "

The site has already had several planning applications made on it.

On two previous occasions there have been applications for six homes (16/04033/OUT) and (15/00392/OUT) and then another application was submitted (22/03099/FUL) for seven homes .

The current plans are for one two bedroomed house, three three bedroomed homes and two four bedroomed homes, along with the development of Aviemore which the transport department say means as a whole it will need a total of 13.5 car parking spaces.

Comments have now closed on the plans a decision is expected on January 17.
