In planning and development news in and around Radstock this week:

Work has started on gutting the old library in Midsomer Norton which is being turned into a Specsavers shop.

Planning permission was granted for Change of Use from D1 (Library) to A1 (Retail) to ARBA Developments Ltd in January for the work. The builders are currently gutting the space ready for plasterers to start next week.

In other planning news:

An application for change of use from office space into an MoT test centre at Unit 3, Wellsway Works, Wells Road, in Westfield has been withdrawn.

There has been no objection to an application to fell a cypress tree at 6 Waldegrave Terrace in Radstock.

The owners of 11 Bath Old Road in Radstock have applied to cut back some of the trees on the property. Under application reference: 20/01961/TCA they want to prune the lower branches of the Thuja Plicata by around 3 metres on all sides, excluding a foliage line to obscure the road. To prune three other trees ( Taxus Bacata) for clearance from the road and to prune the lower branches of a Thuja Plicata (T5) also by around 3 metres. They have also applied to prune the over extended limb growing towards the road and gateway by approx four metres in length to ensure ongoing stability.

An application has been made to fell two pines and all the ash trees along the side of the Old Pit Garage, Coombend, Radstock. Application Reference: 20/01943/TCA
