Planning news in and around Midsomer Norton this week includes:

113 Nelson Ward Drive, Radstock has put in an application to build a loft conversion and rear dormer. Details under 23/00726/FUL

Number 2 The Malt Houses , Coombend, in Radstock has applied to remove an Ash tree. Details under 23/00763/TCA

Over in Paulton, 52A Specklemead, has put in an application to convert a garage into a one bed dwelling. 23/00739/FUL

Planning decisions seen by B&NES include:

An application to convert a former farm outbuilding into to residential annex at Cloud Hill Farm , Eastcourt Road, Temple Cloud, has been withdrawn.

Removal of condition 3 of application 12/01479/FUL (Erection of a barn/granny annexe following demolition of existing cattery buildings) at Stonecroft, Keel's Hill, Peasedown St John has also been withdrawn.

And an application by Densley View , on Bath Road, in Tunley, to build a single and double storey side extension following the demolition of the existing garage and utility room, has been refused.

And over in the Mendip planning lists:

The owners of 7 Fair Close in Norton St Philip, have put in an application (PP-11935093) to convert an existing garage into a self-contained annexe.

And in Rudge, an application for a change of use of land to a Gypsy/Traveller pitch comprising of one mobile home, one touring caravan and associated works (part retrospective), has been approved. That is for land at Rudge Lane and one of the restrictions is that : "The site shall not be occupied by any persons other than gypsies and travellers as defined in Annex 1: Glossary of Planning Policy for Traveller Sites (or its equivalent in replacement national policy). "

Beckington Parish Council had objected saying as far as they knew there were already enough gypsy, Romany and traveller (GRT) pitches in Mendip to meet the Mendip District Council allocation. "Our ward member, her party and many other Mendip District councillors have repeatedly and consistently called upon Mendip District Council (MDC) to address this problem with great urgency. The matter has twice come to full council and we understand has still not been resolved."
