Planning news in and around Midsomer Norton this week includes:

Planners are considering an application from 26 Vivien Avenue, in Midsomer Norton (reference 21/03025/FUL) to build a two storey rear extension to replace conservatory, new dormer window to rear roof elevation and removal of existing side access porch and separate garage, to be replaced with open sided carport.

And an application from 11 Dymboro Gardens, in Midsomer Norton, (under reference 21/02895/FUL) to build a two single storey rear extensions and proposed office on the first floor above new kitchen / diner extension. They also want to build a boundary wall in lieu of the existing hedge.

Over in Hallatrow, the homeowners have applied to fell a Sycamore at 17 Claremont Gardens.

In Camerton, the coronavirus pandemic has led to the owners of Manor Farm, on Skinners Hill to apply to convert offices into nine residential units. This is the address of the Royal Osteoporosis Society, which says in the application that due to coronavirus, there has been a "sharp" reduction in staff numbers. Partly because of homeworking, also due to the remote rural nature of the offices, the space is now less than 20 % full. Details under reference 21/03032/ODCOU. Within the planning application the Society says it wants to use any money from liquidating this asset to invest in research and to embark on a big public awareness campaign to focus on preventing osteoporosis. They add in the application that they have been told by commercial agents that there is weak demand for offices locally.

Over in Peasedown St John at 24 Braysdown Lane (reference

21/03015/FUL) the homeowners have applied to build a second storey rear extension.

In planning decisions made by B&NES this week:

Planners have decided that an application to remove an existing rear glazed lean to and to build a single storey rear extension at 36 Brandown Close, in Temple Cloud, is lawful.
