Norton Hill school needs more space. The school on Charlton Road, Midsomer Norton, under reference 23/02607/FUL has put in an application for a single storey extension for new teaching facilities.
Waterside Farm in Westfield has put in an application to demolish existing single storey structures to the East (side) and North (rear) elevations and the construction of new single storey extensions to replace the existing on the side and rear elevations. Details under 23/02703/FUL
And Redlands, on Bristol Road, has put in an application to build an acoustic fence. 23/02507/FUL
While the Facade Hoists company at Coombend, in Radstock, has applied to put in Photovoltaic Cells across some of its roof. The company is, it is said under the application, the UK's leading specialist in the design, manufacturing and servicing of permanent suspended access equipment. The company's manufacturing warehouse and storage yard has been based at Coomb End since 1998. Details under 23/02578/FUL Although the site is located within a conservation area, in the application the developers say : " The site forms part of a collection of modern industrial style units which do not have any aesthetic merit and the positioning of the proposed PV cells on the roof will in no way diminish the appearance of the building or have any negative impact on the conservation area. "
Extract from the application for the Frome Road housing.
And in case you missed it, under reference 23/02008/FUL the application for six houses on land West of Providence bungalow, on the Frome Road in Radstock. Comments are still open for the application, with many objections already posted, including one which states: "This land is not acceptable building land. There is a historic nature to the town of Radstock and the road, trees and walls are part of the towns make up. This is a conservation area by SSSI and it is important that we preserve and protect these areas. There are brownfield sites available for building on first. I worry about the land stability where the land will need excavating. The road is already dangerous and extra traffic would cause extra problems particularly for children and the elderly. "
Planning decisions made this week by B&NES include:
They have no objection to an application to fell some Ash trees at Paulton Methodist Church , on Park Road, Paulton has been agreed. The trees are cracking a retaining wall above the pavement and starting to displace iron railings.
And an application for a single storey rear extension at 16 Priory Close, Midsomer Norton, has been approved.
