Planning news in and around Radstock this week:

Under application 21/04918/PIP there is an application for land at Smallcombe Road Clandown to build a minimum of seven and a maximum of nine dwellings (comprising 70% open market and 30% affordable housing units).

There is an application by Braysdown Lodge, on Woodborough Hill, Peasedown St. John, (under 21/04876/FUL) to build two new

storage garages for roofing materials and trucks.

And next Monday 15 November at Trinity Methodist Church, Radstock Town Council will be discussing all the planning applications including the Clandown application.

Their meeting which starts at 18.30pm, will also look at the controversial plans for up to 255 homes on the edge of Radstock which has been put in to Mendip planners.

Under reference 21/04509/OUT Gladman Developments have put in a proposal for land at Manor Road in Writhlington. They want outline planning granted for up to 255 dwellings (including 30% affordable housing) along with public open space and landscaping and drainage works. There has been widespread opposition to the plans which would see a marked increase in traffic onto the Frome Road.

Consultation on the proposal is open until November 25.

The council will also be discussing a proposal for a No Waiting At Any Time rule for Nelson Ward Drive. So that would mean putting in double yellow lines along that street.

Residents have long been complaining that it is not safe, with cars parking close to the roundabout as drivers run into the Co-op store.

In planning decisions made by B&NES this week : Cobblers Cottage, at The Square, in Wellow has had an application to replace casement windows with like for like using slimline double glazing, permitted.

And an application to build a single storey dwelling at land at Old Mills, in Paulton, ( 21/04131/FUL) has been withdrawn. The application was for building works following the demolition of derelict farm buildings.
