A planning application has been submitted to build two homes on land between Redfield Road and Sperring Court in Midsomer Norton.

The application from the Ralph and Irma Sperring Trust is for a pair of semi-detached homes with associated gardens and parking on land next to 56 Redfield Road.

If approved by Bath and North East Somerset Council, the houses will be built on land that is currently used informally by residents for parking.

In his application letter, architectural designer Nigel Clarke said: "The proposal is to develop a vacant patch of land between Redfield Road and Sperring Court to create one three-bed and one two-bed dwelling with associated amenity space, parking spaces and bicycle sheds.

"The land is owned by the Ralph and Irma Sperring Trust who own the adjacent terrace of dwellings to the west and whose residents currently informally use the land for parking.

"The trust owns and rents a number of properties in the area and uses the profits to fund local groups and charities.

"The two dwellings have been designed in a back-to-back arrangement with the three-bed dwelling having the larger garden and access via a paved area to bicycle sheds and the retained parking to the north side.

"The two-bed dwelling has a smaller garden but shares the paved access area with its own bicycle shed and parking spaces.

"Existing trees on the site will be retained with two landscaped areas designed to prevent occupants of the new dwellings having direct access to the side window in the gable and direct views into the front bay window of number 54."

The planning application is open for comments, search reference 19/03882/FUL on the BANES Council planning portal.
