By Susie Watkins 27th Aug 2020

The Midsomer Norton football club, Welton Rovers has just announced that one of its players has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a statement it said:

"Following a test taken on Wednesday 26th August, one of our First Team players has tested positive for COVID-19.

After conversations with Public Health England, all Welton Rovers FC personnel who have been in close contact with the player will begin a self-isolation period lasting a minimum of 14 days.

Subsequently, the club's opening two league fixtures versus Longwell Green Sports and Devizes Town have been postponed. We thank the Toolstation Western League and our scheduled opponents for their cooperation and understanding in this matter.

There has been no overlap with our reserve team, whose activities will continue as planned."

The team last played Keynsham Town on August 22. Midsomer Norton Nub News has contacted them for any news of players from their side having any tests.

Welton Rovers FC management has told Nub News it will not be making any further statements other than to say that : " The impacted personnel are following Public Health England guidelines."
