The coffee shop in the main supermarket in Radstock was closed this morning (Thursday) so that staff could be diverted to stocking up shelves.

The manager of the Radco store explained the move, and reassured customers that it was NOT to do with any virus scares.

Even with the staff being put from the coffee shop into stocking out the food shelves, there were chaotic scenes in the shop this morning.

There was no pasta available and customers were being limited to buying just one bottle of milk at a time.

But even so the queues at the time Nub News visited, were at least five trolleys deep.

The store manager, Dave Boucher said that at the present time there are no plans to shorten the hours of the store, or to change shopping limits.

The store, although it is associated with the Co-op nationally is run independently from the overall organisation but shares some pricing and policy of the national chain.
