An active consultation on how people travel around the Somer Valley, could, say campaigners be one step towards bringing back the rail line to Radstock.

The consultation is an overarching opinion poll for those living and working in and around Radstock and Midsomer Norton and this coming week there will be drop in event to learn more at Trinity Methodist Church in Radstock on July 12, from 2pm - 7pm.

The Have Your Say West link is all about getting people out of cars.

The say; " We need to take a hard look at how we move around. One answer is to travel less by car and more by bus, and to cycle or walk for shorter everyday journeys.

But for people to travel less by car, people need to be offered better choices than the ones they have now. They need good alternatives to the car, like joined-up public transport, faster buses and safer walking and cycling routes. "

And that, say the North Somerset Rail charity could see some small funding used to create a strategic outline business case to restore the railway branch line to Radstock in linking up with the use of Metro West services.

The North Somerset Railway C.I.C worked to create plans that are shown together with the cycleway extension into Frome. This would give connectivity for the Somer Valley over to Bath, to Cornwall, and tantalisingly into London.
