Relationship and sexual advice website for young people in Midsomer Norton is updated
Young people in Midsomer Norton can now access relationship and sexual health advice and information with just a few clicks of a mouse.
The www.safebanes.com website has been redesigned in collaboration with young people from across the Bath and North East Somerset area.
The site provides users with advice and information on free condoms (C Card); contraception; emergency contraception; sexually transmitted infections (STIs); pregnancy; sexual and gender identity; relationships and sexual abuse.
The website, set up by Bath and North East Somerset Council's public health and preventative services team, also gives details of sexual health and relationship services available in Midsomer Norton.
Councillor Rob Appleyard, cabinet member for adult services and health, said: "Sexual and reproductive health is a core aspect of wider public health.
This website is an important on-line resource which can help improve health outcomes across Bath and North East Somerset."
Councillor Kevin Guy, cabinet member for children's services, said: "We want to support young people to make informed choices about their sexual health and wellbeing, and this website puts the key information they need at their fingertips."
The www.safebanes.com site also has a professionals-only section that includes a range of helpful and useful resources to support and help young people with their sexual health.
SAFE stands for Sexual health Advice For Everyone, and is a quality standard offered to all organisations who provide sexual health advice and information to young people aged 13 to 24.
Any service showing the SAFE logo shows that services are young person friendly. That means they have to be:
