Revised figures of the money collected by the local Royal British Legion during the Midsomer Norton Poppy Appeal show the community is moving from cash donations, but slowly.

As reported in their latest newsletter, the official total collection by Midsomer Norton and Radstock RBL was £23.261.65.

The figure for money taken via a QR code system, shows that they were given £201.50.

Meanwhile they collected £3,286 by way of contactless payments.

(The branch had reportedly a slightly different figure, £3,745, which they have put down to a few issues experienced with the units supplied).

Geoff Wilson, Branch President and Secretary of Midsomer Norton & Radstock Branch said: " Whatever the final figure (and there are some supermarket figures outstanding) everyone involved can give themselves a big pat on the back. It is such a tremendous achievement by all involved."

The total raised for the Poppy Appeal nationally is currently £45.2 million, of which £8.7 million was taken via the contactless system.

If you are a Branch member, you are welcome to attend their meetings currently in Midsomer Norton Social Club. All welcome.

Should you wish to attend, please advise Geoff Wilson via email on [email protected] and he will ensure you are sent an invitation

Branch monthly meetings occur on the fourth Monday of the month.
