Saving lives in Radstock, St John Ambulance looking for local volunteers

St John Ambulance are looking for new volunteers to support their Badger and Cadet units in the Radstock & Midsomer Norton area. If you're interested in volunteering with young people you can join the Youth Team.

You'll empower them to care for others, learn from new experiences and most importantly, gain the skills needed to potentially save lives.

St John's training can cover knowing what to do, in a first aid incident, which could potentially save someone's life, be that a friend, or someone in your community.

Topics covered may include:

  • How to put someone in the Recovery Position
  • How to carry out CPR
  • Treating a severe bleed by applying a dressing

There could also be training in street aid, topics covered may include:

  • Treating a catastrophic bleed such as a knife wound, including the use of a tourniquet
  • How to respond to an alcohol poisoning or spiking incident
  • How to respond to a drug poisoning incident
