Campaigners fighting the building of gas generators on land close to Welton Primary School have welcomed news that the planning agreement process is being reviewed.
Abi Nimmo whose property in Burlington Road adjuncts the site told Nub News: " It is appalling such a decision was waived through without scrutiny, without consulting us, the local residents, without a committee decision. It's appalling that the Liberal Democrat's are blaming the Conservatives and vice versa meanwhile destruction ensues.
"All agree climate change is a gave problem, where decisions like this have to be managed very carefully, not blindly, and definitely not for short term financial gain."
She said: " This is fossil fuel, such companies need to be watched, and heavily regulated by the government and environmental agencies. My generation, and every generation from now on desperately need to give back to the environment, desperately must oppose reckless builds such as this. " Few sane people would disagree with me that we need to give back to our environment through planting trees, something that would be a better use of this space than building something that has a lifespan of only 10-20 yrs. Trees take decades to several centuries to mature.. We need them for our physical and mental wellbeing, that's for sure. " Let's slow down, reflect on what we are doing, stop the relentless destruction, be more conscious. It's beautiful here, I moved here for that reason, as did my neighbours. Come on, reality check: this generator is not needed, it will be ugly, it will ruin the sound and air quality here. "We the community are saying a huge NO. We need to be heard."
