Radstock residents are being urged to go to the next Somer Valley Area Forum to hear about green ideas and community initiatives close to hand.
The upcoming AGM of the Connecting Communities Forums are supported by Bath & North East Somerset Council and bring together public services, local organisations and residents to improve local engagement, encourage people to talk to each other and share their skills and ideas.
The AGM of the Somer Valley Area Forum which covers Farmborough Farrington Gurney, High Littleton, Midsomer Norton, Paulton, Peasedown St John, Radstock, Timsbury and Westfield will be held on Wednesday 19 February from 6pm – 8pm at the Assembly Room, Midsomer Norton Town Hall on The Island.
Local residents are invited to attend together with the area's parish councils, community organisations and ward councillors.
The main theme of the AGM is Climate Emergency and the Forum will receive an update from Bath & North East Somerset Council on its Climate Emergency declaration. It will also hear from Bath and West Community Energy, Green Action North East Somerset and how Farmborough established its community shop.
Lynda Robertson, Chair of the Somer Valley Forum, said: "Climate Emergency is the most important issue we are facing, not only as local communities but also globally. While it may seem too big an issue for us to solve alone, there are many actions that can be taken if we work together and support each other. We are looking forward to hearing more about work already underway in the Somer Valley and opportunities for the future."
Councillor Dine Romero, Leader of Bath & North Somerset Council, said: "We want to give people a bigger say on the issues that matter to them and one of the main ways to do this is by taking part in our regular Area Forums. It's a great opportunity to give us feedback and share your ideas and I'd urge residents to try to attend and let us hear their views."
