A classical music concert aimed specifically at babies and toddlers is taking place in Midsomer Norton today (Wednesday August 14).

Music For Miniatures is hosting A Musical Zoo in Midsomer Norton Town Halll today from 3pm, and it should last for around 45 minutes

Featuring music by Bach, Brahms, Saint-Saens and more, there will be pieces about sheep, monkeys, meerkats, elephants, swans and many others.

Tickets are priced at £8 for an adult and child pair, then £4 each for an extra adult and £3 each for any extra children.

Music for Miniatures is a series of short live classical concerts specifically designed for parents, grandparents and carers to enjoy in the company of babies, toddlers and young children (aged 0-4).

At Music for Miniatures they we don't mind noise at their concerts. Babies can sleep, cry, babble and crawl while toddlers are free to explore and enjoy in their own way without being told to "ssh".

Older little ones can dance, play air-instruments and get right up close to the performers.

A spokesperson said: "Classical music has been proven to be calming for children of all ages, and hearing it live is even better.

"At a Music for Miniatures concert you can experience the magic of live music with your little one and let the beautiful music relax you both."

Music for Miniatures was started by musician mum Julie Payne when she found no opportunities to share live music with her own young children without worrying about them making noise.

Julie believes that children should be exposed to high quality, live music from a very early age and that concert-going should be as common as swimming lessons for young children to help inspire them, encourage creativity and help them to listen with open ears.
