Sponsored welly walk raises £800 for Wellow school

By Susie Watkins 4th Jul 2021

Children at St Julian's School in Wellow have taken part in a sponsored welly walk – all in aid of a good cause.

Last week, pupils and staff braved the rain to walk laps of the village sports field, with some children walking more than 10,000 steps each.

School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: "Thanks to all the children that took part in this special event. Their dedication and determination raised an incredible £800, which will go towards new welly racks and outside play equipment at St Julian's School.

"The whole school took part in the welly walk with PTA members and staff acting as marshals."

The Key Stage 1 pupils walked 392 laps - around 79km in total

Each child in Key Stage 2 walked 10,000 steps each. This was around 472km in total.
