Residents are being asked to help find those who vandalised a local play park with the cost of the clean up in tens of thousands of pounds.

Shakespeare Park in Westfield has only just been officially re-opened with new play equipment installed in March as part of a £480,000 investment by Bath & North East Somerset Council to improve play and outdoor family fun.

The work at Shakespeare Road was a joint project with Westfield Parish Council and cost a total of £70,000 for the major refurbishment.

Today (September 21) horrified residents sent photos of the damage to the site.

Play equipment and fences have been daubed with blue paint and the park officials say with this kind of wanton vandalism those responsible must have got splashes on their skin and nails.

A local who supplied the photos to Nub News told us:

" It's infuriating they've ruined it for themselves and everyone else. "
