Thank you for welcoming me : the new Radstock business delayed by coronavirus

By Susie Watkins 16th May 2020

Starting a business is hard at any time - starting one as coronavirus strikes has meant plans for a grand opening have had to be postponed - with no new date set.

But the new owner of The Beauty Lounge in Radstock remains optimistic, and grateful for the support from the existing business community in the town.

The Lounge should have opened its door in late March - now owner Ruby May Davey is not sure when the easing of lockdown restrictions will allow her to open up.

Ruby, who is 25, has been working in the beauty industry for seven years and is local, having trained at Bath City College.

She told Nub News: " I was looking out for an opportunity to fulfil my dream and set up my own business in the last year. "

She is full of praise for Radstock and said: " I consider Radstock a very up and coming area, especially with the new developments that have already taken place and those that are proposed, so when I discovered this property I jumped at the opportunity.

"I have been redeveloping the shop since January and had planned to open by the end of March, however coronavirus has obviously put a stop to that!

"I am now ready and waiting for the all clear to be able to open my doors and welcome everyone. Although Covid has spoilt my plans for a grand opening, I am hoping I will be in high demand with people desperate for a pamper."

As additional reassurance to customers Ruby has already undergone a COVID infection prevention and control course, and will obviously be following all the health and safety guidelines.

Treatments on offer will include manicures and pedicures, eyelash lifts

brow lamination, massages and facials.

Ruby told Nub News: " I have been overwhelmed by the support from local community that I have met, and am looking forward to building a long lasting relationship with other local businesses and residents."
