The beginning of the end of the old Radco - who better than a Co-op long serving member of staff to do the honours
It was the beginning of the end of an era today (December 12) when the heavy machinery moved in and started to bring down the old Radco store in the centre of town.
Radstock's Mayor was there to see the 'official' first cut of the official wrecking ribbon.
The honour of starting the demolition, in aid of two local charities, Swallow Transport and Creativity Works, fell to Chris Randell, who started his working life in the store. He won a fundraising raffle to cut the ribbon, and has worked for the Co-op for the past 18 years, looking after ranges for all the stores across the Co-op group.
Chris was watched on by Don Morris the CEO Radstock Co-operative Society.
Other invited guests included the Mayors of Midsomer Norton and of Westfield.
The main building could be down in the next 48 hours. You can watch live updates on the building, and keep up with the news of the development HERE the Radstock Co-operative Society web site.
