The Radstock Mayor writes:

Radstock has always set great store by the sacrifices made by many during the two world wars. Other recent wars are now added and despite the ravages of corona virus, the untimely deaths of so many are still commemorated at the Cenotaph each November.

The Royal British Legion, whose task it is to continue the annual remembrance also provides help for veterans. It is a shameful thing that even today there is very little care afforded to those who have fought and been cast back into civvy street with mental or physical problems, sometimes both. On Saturday you can meet members of the Royal British legion who will be holding an Open Day at the Wheel between 10 am and 12 pm. They will be able to answer any questions you might have and will also have items for sale.

If your household includes a dog as well as children, there is a wonderful opportunity for boys and girls to learn more about their pets and how to interact with them. The sessions will include quizzes and puzzles and lots of advice on how to get the best out of our canine friends. The date is 24 August and the venue is the Hub, with a morning session from 11.00 to 12.30 pm and an afternoon one from 1.30 to 3.00 pm. The workshops are aimed at 7-11 year-olds and an adult must accompany them. Book a place now with Helen ([email protected]).

It's been a damp week but blue skies are on the way, apparently. Much to look forward to!
