Recently, The National Lottery Community Fund wrote to let me know what sums have been awarded to organisations based in North East Somerset.

As the largest funder of community activity in the United Kingdom (UK), The National Lottery Community Fund continues to support a number of worthy causes around the country. The newly published Impact Report that was shared with me shows that 97% of grant holders report positive benefits for people such as improved wellbeing, increased social contact and greater confidence and self-esteem. Since November, The National Lottery Community Fund has given £20,000 to community projects in the constituency, comprising of two charities and community groups. I understand that part of the allocation will, for example, be used to sponsor premises and running costs for a charity that helps and supports low risk ex-offenders that have recently left prison. I am delighted that there are funds being used to address issues that most communities face, including employability, mental health, supporting young people and building connexions to tackle loneliness. The groups in receipt of the money give so much support to local people and particularly during what have been some extremely challenging times particularly on account of the pandemic. The National Lottery Community Fund has also created an Awards for All programme to honour Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
