The Prime Minister has been defended by the Midsomer Norton MP Jacob Rees Mogg who insisted that Boris Johnson's ethics were not in doubt.
The Minister for Brexit Opportunities told Channel 4 news : " I have great confidence (in the Prime Minister). Of course the Prime Minister tells the truth. I think this is fanciful. There are always rumours going around. You can't govern on the basis of rumour and tittle tattle.
"Losing ministers is something that just happens. I wouldn't get too excited about resignations. " Adding " Some people do not want to serve (in his cabinet) anymore but they are immanently replaceable.
" I have no desire to serve another Prime Minister."
Two of the Prime Minister's most senior ministers from cabinet, the Chancellor and the Health Secretary quit cabinet this evening ( July 5) as more facts emerged about the Chris Pincher affair.
The Downing Street Office of the Prime Minister had earlier denied the level of knowledge Mr Johnson had about the past record of shamed the shamed Tamworth MP, who has admitted groping men and unacceptable conduct in Parliament while drunk before appointing him to a position in the Conservative Whips' office. He has already been suspended from the Conservative Party and now faces other allegations.
This evening Mr Johnson admitted he had been told about complaints about Mr Pincher in 2019 and made a "bad mistake" by not acting on it.
Within minutes of that admission, Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid resigned. Mr Sunak said the public expect "government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously" while Mr Javid told the Prime Minister he can "no longer, in good conscience, continue serving in this government".
Expectation is now rife that Mr Johnson will finally have to fall on his sword and resign after months of criticism over his conduct, decisions and attempts to avoid blame for 'Partygate' and other government failing.
Later the TV news heard from a local councillor said that the current political situation was a " tragedy."
Jacob Rees Mogg on an interview with the Channel 4 news added about the political crisis brought about by the then deputy's whip's behaviour : " I think Chris Pincher must look to his conduct. If the things that have been said about him are true then I do not think he will remain as a member of parliament. You really cant have people in parliament who have committed serious sexual assault."
