One of the businesses that re-opened in Midsomer Norton on Monday was the Essence Cafe - run by husband and wife team in the town for the past six years.

Situated in Holly Court, the cafe is no longer open for sit down business and is trying to keep going with takeaway service only.

But although owner Stefka Mccraw is trying to be positive, it is clearly a struggle, not least because many of their loyal customers are elderly.

And without any toilets open, coming into the High Street is a problem.

Stefka, who is hoping that when Specsavers move in as a neighbour they will bring in more business, told Nub News: " What would make a massive difference would be public toilets in Midsomer Norton.

"This is a major problem, visiting this lovely town, where are you going to go to the toilet."

Her recommendation, the self -cleaning toilets which could be open to the public even while social distancing rules apply.

" More people will come and support us if we had toilets like they do in Wells."

" Business is slow but positively going in the right direction, a few of our customers have come back to us and we are grateful."

Essence is kept busy serving take away teas, coffees and cakes and it also caters lunches for local businesses and offices. But more trade, especially now, for small local enterprises would be very welcome.

She told Nub News: " Please come and support us. It is hard time for everyone, not just us, we just want everyone to be safe. And hope we will be back to normal soon.

"Midsomer Norton High Street needs more supporters. More people need to come and visit this lovely town."
