Nub News - this hyperlocal news network is creating up to 20 new journalism jobs with an expansion across different parts of the United Kingdom.

Nub News has launched a recruitment drive for journalists around the country – with a particular focus on expanding in Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Somerset, Essex, South Wales, Devon and Cornwall.

The full-time roles are aimed at covering small or mid-sized towns where there has been closure or consolidation in the local press industry.

Nub News hopes to recruit between 15 and 20 journalists over the next couple of months, and the jobs are being advertised on the media site, Hold The Front Page.

You can see it via the red button below.

Chief executive Karl Hancock told HTFP: "Ideal towns suitable for Nub News would be those small or mid-sized towns where there has been closure or consolidation in the local press industry.

"Take Ashby-de-la-Zouch in Leicestershire. It's a town situated right in the middle of Burton, Derby and Leicester. It has its own real identity. We launched there just a few weeks ago and already it has had over 12,000 visitors to the site.

"Nub News is different from most other regional publishers in that it does not rely on Google Ads for revenues. It's a sponsorship-driven revenue model.

"As a result, there is not a big focus on clicks. We do old-school journalism, getting back to basics and meeting people face-to-face. We believe that's how you source the best stories."

The company aims to be active in 700 towns within the next two years.

Karl added: " "Focusing on the community and us supporting local businesses is also a big part of what we are. We want to build absolute trust in our towns."
