Last week Great Western Air Ambulance crews had a really busy seven days with 30 call-outs.
They were out for 21 critical care incidents - nine of them medical and 12 for trauma care. Eighteen of those were in Bristol itself, while they were out four times in B&NES.
You can find out more about the work they do HERE
The team's bright lime green and blue helicopter, Helimed 65 ( which is the call sign when they are dispatched to incidents ) is a Eurocopter 135 and can seat up to five people – a Pilot, a Specialist Paramedic in Critical Care, a Critical Care Doctor, and a patient, if transporting them to hospital. The fifth seat is often used by a trainee paramedic or doctor, as they are a pre-hospital emergency medicine training unit, but it can also be used to take a patient's parent or guardian as well.
