Children at St Julian's School in Wellow were given the opportunity to take part in the national fundraising efforts last Friday for Children In Need.

Children, from all age groups, could attend school dressed-up for the occasion and raise funds at the same time!

School Headteacher, Ruth Noall, said: "A big thank you to everyone who came to school dressed up for Children in Need last week. Everyone that did donated £1 towards supporting children and families across the UK who need extra help and support."

This year marked the 40th anniversary of the BBC telethon which was set up in 1980 to support disadvantaged children and young people across the country. To date, more than £1 billion has been raised, with another £37 million being added to the total last Friday night.

Some of the children at Wellow School dressed up as Pudsey Bear, the charity's mascot who has been an instantly recognisable figure for almost half-a-century.

"We were so impressed with how 'bright and beautiful' our children looked! We raised an amazing £110.75. Well done to everyone," added Ruth
